What equipment cannot be donated to the 8Ball Program?
We cannot accept:
Printers
Scanners
Speakers
Old software (unless Windows XP operating system with full licence)
TVs
Microwaves
Phones
Cameras
What software does the 8Ball Program use?
We install Ubuntu on all of our computers. Ubuntu comes with OpenOffice software, which can be used with all Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents. Ubuntu will not install on computers made prior to 2000, and so we cannot accept these machines. The computers also need to be able to handle a broadband internet connection.
How do I donate my equipment?
As the 8Ball Program is run by students, we are not able to collect equipment. Deliveries should be made to the Guild Building during office hours (8.30am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday). It is sometimes possible to arrange deliveries outside of these times - please contact 8Ball to arrange this. For directions to the Guild Building, please see the campus map below, or contact 8Ball for directions.
